My mom cooked prawns for our lunch and we enjoyed this meal together with my two friends. Several minutes passed when I notice my mom’s silence. I looked at her and couldn’t speak anymore. I knew there was something wrong. Her tongue came In and out and she’s drooling. I suspected an attack.
I asked my friends to bring her in the hospital and while in the car I could see her tears falling. I pity my mom a lot. This was not the first time. The 4th I think. But this one was the terrible of all. Inside the emergency room the doctor gave her medicine but was not controlled. My mom felt numbness to her arm up to her leg. I saw her face wasn’t in good shape. Until she finally lost her sensation on the right side of her body.
After an hour, my mom could not speak and move. She’s crying. I asked myself to be strong. I know my mom wouldn’t want this.
The second day she’s eating with the help of a tube. Her food was blended. She’s not allowed to eat by mouth. It could result to obstruction. I can’t believe my mom was suffering from hemiplegia (Etymology: New Latin, from Middle Greek hEmiplEgia paralysis, from Greek hEmi- + -plEgia -plegia: total or partial paralysis of one side of the body that results from disease of or injury to the motor centers of the brain).
She spent 10 days in the hospital.
I was the lone sibling of my mom who took care during her course. We are three. The youngest was studying in Manila that time and the eldest was working outside the country. What else can I do but to give the best I can for her.
There were times that I need to bring her in the church. Pushing her in a wheelchair and attend the worship service. God knows that He’s the only one I could rely on to bring my mom’s strength to normal state. God’s miracle happened.
Until one day, she walked.
I love my mom so much.
Now, it’s 6 years already. She may not gained her normal strength but I am grateful that God kept His promise.
I am really happy that she’s still with us.
