For the first time, a transgendered woman was appointed by President Barack Obama. Amanda Simpson’s appointment to the Commerce Department is the first in the history. It only shows that Obama’s governance is fair to all.
Simpson, who underwent the gender reassignment process in the late 1990’s while working for Raytheon, was appointed Senior Technical Advisor to the Commerce Department.

In an official statement, Simpson said :
“I’m truly honored to have received this appointment and am eager and excited about this opportunity that is before me,” she said in the statement. “And at the same time, as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one of hundreds, and that this appointment opens future opportunities for many others.”
