Carless Day in Manila a Solution to Oil Crisis?

I think the imposition of Carless Day in Manila wouldn’t be fair enough to all the Filipinos. Perhaps there are other solutions aside from prohibiting the use of cars in a day. The idea of Carless Day is actually a good suggestion, but i am sure it would be impossible. It would be of help maybe.

If you are sending your kids in school everyday, would you care to suffer your kid’s safety and concern by using Public Utility Vehicles? This is not a topic against PUV, but definitely you wouldn’t want your love one to suffer from this issue.

In the history of New Zealand, Carless days were introduced on 30 July 1979. Every owner of a petrol powered, private vehicle under 4,400lbs (apart from motorbikes) had to nominate one day of every week when they would not drive that vehicle on the road. The day was indicated by a coloured sticker on the windscreen – there were (from memory) different colours for each day? A similar color coding in the Philippines.

And during Carless Days, Tricycle and bicycle lanes are pushed. Watch the video.

If you are living in a far place and there’s no other mode of transportation aside from your car, would you agree in imposing Carless Day?

A carless day is possible and practical, and a great excuse to hold a slumber party! Imagine, you and your office barkada agree to sleep in one of your houses. The next day, you all take PUVs to work, back to the host’s house, and get picked up there!

    isang tao.

Naghihirap din yang si Gloria at Mike. Hirap silang isipin
kung papaanon itatago yung kinulimbat nila.

Gigil ng gigil ako sa gobyerno natin.

Basura kahit saan nagkalat. Habang ang mga hayop.

    Paupo upo sa upuang umiikot.

    Hindi mahirap ang pilipinas.

Pulubi nga may cellphone. Totoo mga pare. Tawa na ako eh.

Pulubi may cellphone. Alam pa pumidot. Grabe. Tapos mahirap daw tayo.

Mamura mo talga eh. Basurero nga sa atin marunong mag english.

Yung bansa na hindi marunong. Mayaman. Bakit ganon.

    Yun nmang mamang traffic enforcer.

    Sasakyan daw pagdiskitahan.

Pero atleast my nabibigay ng solusyon. Ok yan si Cong. Joson.

Mabait yan. Kaya lang medyo hirap din silang i give up yung pork barrel nila.

    Garapal talaga.

D kayo marunong mandiri. Sabagay yung baboy di alam
    yung nakakadiri.

  12. monaco says:

Carless day? It’s wishful thinking! Thought the idea is a noble one, I don’t think it can be implemented fully! Sigurado there will be sectors asking for exemptions: mga doctors because of patients daw, mga gov’t officials on official duty daw, mga tongressman, at mga “si general ako”. Hay naku!

Okay sana yung intention but let’s be more realistic with our plans, Edno Joson!

  13. hmmmmmmm, i think it’s not the solution. still gagamit p dn tau ng cars. what if try ntin ung electrical jeepneys o waterbased cars? just a thought. :)
