Venus Pelobello from Luzon defeated one-time defending champion Dodong Permangil on Saturday episode of It’s Showtime “Tawag Ng Tanghalan.”
Venus received a standing ovation from the judges and won the daily rounds of the competition after performing her own rendition of “My Love Will See You Through” by Marco Sison.
During the final rounds, Venus performed her own rendition of “Anak,” a song popularized by Freddie Aguilar while Permangil belted out “Ngayon” by Basil Valdez.
The judges decided to give the title to Venus with a total average score of 95.8 percent. She will be back on Tawag Ng Tanghalan stage on Monday.
