John Paul Gumandoy from Cebu City performed his own rendition of “Anak” by Freddie Aguilar on The Voice Kids Philippines Season 3 premiere episode on Saturday, May 28.

The nine-year-old stunner received a three-chair turn from the coaches of the show.
Broadway star Lea Salonga was the the first to turn her chair, followed by Bamboo Manalac. Megastar Sharon Cuneta, who replaced Sarah Geronimo, was the last.
“Your delivery was something special to me. It sounded like a kid but your attack to the song was very different. That’s how you should sing. Your performance is something worthy. Let me be your coach JP,” said Manalac.
“I love and blown away by your performance,” said Salonga. “Napakaraming beses ko nang narinig iyang awit na iyan, pero noong narinig ko iyong version mo, kaya ako iyong huling umikot, gusto ko talagang buoin kasi ayaw ko talagang maimpluwensyahan ako ng mga naalala kong bersyon,” Cuneta said.
In the end, JP picked Cuneta to be his coach. He’s the first member of Team Sharon. Watch his performance below.
