Joey Salceda, Albay 2nd District Rep, appealed to government agencies DSWD, NCIP and MTRCB to take remedial action in the case of Rita Gabiola, known as “Badjao Girl,” inside Pinoy Big Brother house.
“PBB must be unequivocal against incipient discrimination, subsconscious racism and the bullying it engenders in any contour and complexion, only made grievous by its grand display to a national audience esp to its target segment – the youth whose moral judgment is just forming,” said Salceda in a Facebook post on Saturday, August 13.
“Treatment of indigenous peoples is too delicate for a “role playing-cum-confession room” context. It may address the direct participants but what about millions who watch the violation but failed for some reason to watch the episode of correction.”

According to the 13-year-old housemate, she was hurt by the incident, but the girls immediately apologized to her after realizing their mistake.
