His own version of the song caught the attention of season two newest judges “Price Tag” singer Jessie J and “Delilah” singer Tom Jones.

“I think you will be a huge asset to my team. I think I want to make sure I am representing people that really know how to tell a story when they’re singing and that’s exactly what you did so congratulations,” Jessie J said.

Tom Jones also commended Apostol for doing a great job on that song.

“I’ve been waiting, and waiting, and waiting. But when I heard you, I heard the passion from you and the range that you have, and there’s a lot of fire there and you didn’t copy anybody, you have an original sounding voice. I know there’s a lot of great Filipino singer because I’ve been to the Philippines and I’ve heard them sing. You really do have a great voice and I’d love to have you on my team,” he said.

In the end, Apostol chose Team Tom Jones. “I respect the two of you because obviously you’re amazing with what you do… It’s so hard… But I’m gonna choose… Tom,” he said.

Meanwhile, another judge got thrilled when he learned that Apostol is a Filipino.

“Woo! Oh! Like my best friend, apl?” He’s referring to his fellow Black Eyed Peas member

“Salamat!” he added, to which Apostol replied, “Oh my gosh, yeah! Thank you, thank you!” then asked him, “Do you like chicken adobo? Pancit?”

“Definitely! I love that. That’s my favorite food,” Apostol replied.

“I just hit him with Filipino secrets!” He cheered, “That’s cool men! Filipinos! Woo!”

He also explained why he didn’t turn around, “The reason why I didn’t turn around, it’s not because you’re not super mega… you are really fantabulous.

“But when Jessie turned around I was like ‘Wow, you’re in good hands,’” he added.
