American Idol Season 11 Top 5 finalist Jessica Sanchez was personally chosen by boxing superstar Manny Pacquaio to sing the Philippine national anthem “Lupang Hinirang” in one of his future bouts.

Pacquaio recently said he is praying for Sanchez to win the US talent competition “American Idol.” “Jessica, good luck and we’re praying for you. Sana manalo ka. No, hindi sana. I declare that you’re gonna win in Jesus’ name,” he said.

Pacquiao is well known for bringing Filiino talent to sing the anthem in his fights. The list includes Charice Pempengco, Zyrene Parsad, Maria Aragon, Lani Misalucha, Christian Bautista, Kyla, Jennifer Bautista, Jonalyn Viray, Aicelle Santos, Maricar Garcia, Arnel Pineda, Sarah Geronimo and “American Idol” Season 10 finalist Thia Megia.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao picked Kirby Asunto, 14-year-old Filipina-New Yorker, to sing the national anthem in his June 9 fight against Timothy Bradley.
