Filipino-Australian singer Chris Cayzer failed to make it to the Top 12 of X Factor Australia. On Wednesday episode of the show, his mentor, Guy Sebastian passed on the former Kapamilya talent as he selected his three contestants for the Over-25 category.
It will be recalled that the “Australian Idol” winner Sebastian was the only one who voted against Cayzer during the audition rounds, even if the Fil-Australian received a standing ovation from Mel B for his rendition of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles.”
Sebastian admitted he wasn’t “blown away” by Cayzer’s audition. “I like you but if you want to be a superstar, you would have to grow a lot,” he said at the time.
During Super Bootcamp, Sebastian wasn’t impressed again with Cayzer’s version of New Radical’s “You Get What You Give.”
“I didn’t get Chris. There’s a certain ceiling and Chris can’t get past it. He doesn’t have the X factor,” Sebastian said. “It’s always been awkward when you say to somebody and they end up in your category. But for the person, it’s harder for them because they have to prove me wrong.”
Sebastian chose Nathaniel Willemse, Justin Standley and Samantha Jade instead.
