How Sugar is Ruining Our Health

Many of us have thought the good teaching that we need to eat less sugar - and rightly so. And despite the numerous cautions by our health authorities of the bad effects of sugar, the majority of the population is still consuming sugar for everyday use in some form or the other. Sugar is both a broad category and a deceptive one. Let’s see and check it for our health’s sake.

Remember this, we do not need to use white, refined sugar to be consuming sugar.

Various types of sugar ; fructose - like in fruit sugar, lactose - like in milk, sucrose - like in table sugar, maltose or malts - like in rice malt and honey, jam - a concentrated juice, that is high in fruit sugar, maple syrup, corn syrup, palm sugar, the very popular and deceiving organic brown sugar, which is not all that different from white sugar and glucose. Even alcohol is a sugar. All of these sugars are problematic in many different ways.

Why sugar to be avoided? Let’s see why. According to some experts, there are a hundred of reasons how sugar is ruining our health.

1. Sugar increases cholesterol.
2. Sugar decreases our growth hormone which is the key to staying youthful and lean.
3. Sugar can cause cardiovascular diseases.
4. Sugar contributes to osteoporosis.
5. Sugar interferes with the absorption of protein in the body.
6. Sugar causes drowsiness and decreases activity in children.
7. Sugar can impair the structure of DNA.
8. Sugar contributes to diabetes.
9. Sugar can contribute to eczema in children.
10. Sugar can cause hyperactivity, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, and crankiness in children.

Many people try hard not to use sugar in their tea, coffee or juice, yet they crave sugar in some other way, like candies, yogurts, chocolates, ice cream and even fruits.

The wonderful thing is that we do not really need to give up the sweetness of sugar in order for us to be healthy, but we just need to find ways as substitute or replace it with better alternatives.
