The Filipino Poor and An Angel

The story of Jane Walker is touching and an inspiration to all the Filipinos around the world. This British mom really touched my heart that’s why it drives me to write about her. She was called an Angel to save the Filipino children in Manila’s city dump, the Smokey Mountain.

She left her career in Britain just to save the Filipino children. The 43 year old Briton has been personally attached for more than 10 years at Smokey Mountain project. She is the founder of Philippine Christian Foundation in 1996, and later registered as a charity in 2002. Among the projects of PCF includes Education and Adult Literacy, Nutrition and Health, Livelihood and Skills Training, Family and Community Enhancement and Spiritual Care.

She was deeply upset when she witnessed extreme poverty of Filipino garbage pickers who live in the dumpsites and cemeteries. Then she discovered that they severely wanted to uplift their lives and send their children to school. That’s the reason why she decided to help them by providing education to their children. She started the first two schools in Navotas and Tondo for kids ages 4 to 7. And three years ago, the British Embassy Manila provided support to enable the school to start their special classes for older children, ages 7 to 13.

Their Mission and Vision is, To permanently improve the quality of life for the poorest Filipino communities, through education, nutrition, health, medical and family enhancement programs, regardless of religion, race or political boundaries. To Free Every Filipino Child And Their Family From Poverty.

Ms. Walker preferred to walk barefooted at the land of Smokey Mountain when she came back to the Philippines.

“Why are you not in our school today?” she asks a malnourished child with a gaunt frame and bloodshot eyes.

“I told you I would be looking for my students, you should come even if you are late,” she gently scolds the child, before giving him a tight embrace.

“I want you to come back to school, and join us tomorrow,” she says as she releases him to resume picking through a fresh hill of rubbish for items to salvage in exchange for a few pesos.

It’s good to know that a foreigner is helping our children to pursue an education at their early age and in the midst of poverty. I am absolutely proud to wondrous works that God used Ms. Parker to continue her endeavor for the poor. Ms. Parker, the Filipino people has so much to thank you. You are truly a savior!

And i am deeply distressed that people from our government is just waiting for an Angel to shower her blessings to the land where she even do not belong. Ashame on you!

We need to stop talking and pointing fingers…whether we’re on the position as public servants or not, yet the fact is, we all are…We are all responsible of each other, a single good need no matter how little, is a lot. Just start your good thing and when the world sees you, they will follow…Everyone is good, its natural to human than evil, it just needs to be tapped.

That is usually the case. Sometimes it is others who care for our people since we are all caught up with our lives. Its saddening how much we complain about lack of things and material wealth, if we looked to our brothers in need, we’d see that we should be thankful for wht we have and share it with them instead of wanting and asking for more than what we need to live.

pinoy officials kasi are just helping themselves to survive, pero yung mga hiningan nila ng tulong para mahalal e nalimutan na nila. sana dumami pa ang mga porenger na tumulong sa mga nangangailangan at sana tularan ng mga nakaka-alwal na pinoy.
